FTI Street Racer Lock-Up Series 9.5 Inch Torque Converter
The 9.5 inch torque converter from FTI Performance’s Street Racer Lock-Up Series is built for performance street cars and weekend-warrior combinations using GM 6L80E, 6L85E and 6L90E transmissions. With a forged billet lock-up cover, triple-clutch lock-up and multiple stall-speed options, this converter is designed for applications that demand more from the torque converter than a standard replacement unit.
FTI rates the SRL8-3 Series for applications up to 1,000 HP and backs it with a 3-year standard warranty. Stall configurations range from 2,800 RPM to 4,000 RPM, with custom-stall options available for combinations requiring a more specific converter setup.
Built for Performance Street Applications
The Street Racer Lock-Up Series uses a 9.5-inch diameter to provide a compact performance-oriented converter package. Its triple-clutch lock-up design is paired with FTI’s forged billet lock-up cover for increased strength and reliability in demanding applications.
Inside the converter, FTI uses furnace-brazed construction and TIG-welds the internal fins to increase rigidity. Premium Torrington bearings are also used throughout the converter assembly.
Multiple Stall Speed Options
Choosing the correct stall speed is an important part of matching a converter to an engine and drivetrain combination. The SRL8-3 Series is available in several configurations:

If your required stall speed is not listed, FTI provides a custom-stall option. Buyers who are unsure which stall speed matches their vehicle can also use the custom option to have an FTI converter technician assist with the selection.
Forged Billet Lock-Up Cover
The forged billet lock-up cover is one of the defining features of this 9.5 inch billet torque converter. FTI developed its billet cover specifically for its billet lock-up converter line, combining the compact Street Racer format with a triple-clutch lock-up design.
The result is a converter intended for performance-oriented combinations where lock-up strength and consistent operation are important.
Triple-Clutch Lock-Up Design
The SRL8-3 uses a triple-clutch lock-up configuration across its available stall-speed versions. This gives the converter a performance-focused lock-up package while retaining compatibility with the electronic lock-up operation of the applicable GM transmissions.

6L80E, 6L85E and 6L90E Applications
This FTI Street Racer Lock-Up Series is designed for 6L80E, 6L85E and 6L90E applications. FTI also sells separate 9.5-inch Street Racer converters specifically configured for Corvette applications, so the standard SRL8-3 should not be treated as a universal converter for every vehicle using these transmissions.
Important: The standard SRL8-3 series will not fit Corvette applications. FTI offers separate Corvette-specific versions for those vehicles.

Choose the Right Stall for Your Combination
Stall speed should be matched to the complete vehicle combination rather than selected by RPM alone. Engine powerband, camshaft, vehicle weight, gearing, tire combination and intended use can all affect which converter configuration is appropriate.
If you are unsure which stall speed is right for your build, use the custom-stall option and provide the required vehicle and converter information so the appropriate configuration can be determined.
Note: Standard SRL8-3 converters do not fit Corvette applications. Corvette-specific 6L80E/6L90E converters are available separately.
